It Has Been Quiet Around Here

Sorry if I haven't spent that much time on this blog lately.  The fact is we've been pretty busy with work, life, and the various wedding errands Heather has planned for us.  Those errands are basically over for now, thank goodness, as all of the BIG wedding items have been completed (wedding hall, officiant, decorations, invitations, and photographer).  All that remains are the smaller items which can be handled as the need arises.  And there are still 7 1/2 months to go before the big day...

Starting last week, Saturdays include dragging Heather out of bed kicking and screaming so she can go to her College Algebra class.  It's an accelerated course so there is a lot of information crammed into each lecture.  While she is at class, I run a few errands and come back home to try and rest before I have to go pick her up again.  The only real problem with this new schedule is that it really makes it harder for us to go out and DO anything...when she gets home from class she needs to eat lunch and then it's nap time!  Since we're trying to spend Sundays at home relaxing (and using some time as "homework time") Saturday nights are our only real "let's go out" nights.  But since Heather's naps won't generally end until after 6pm, and it takes her FOREVER to get ready, we may have to become a bit more Nite-Owlish than we have been in the past.  Next Saturday we won't have much of a choice though - Heather has no school because of Spring Break, and she has committed us to go see a few of her friends for St. Patrick's Day.  Aside from the fact that 99% of the people out that night will be blind drunk (and I don't drink at all) there is the added anxiety attached to my having to meet these new people for the first time.  Knowing how nervous I get, I am almost guaranteed to make an ass of myself and be my typical obnoxious freak loser persona.  In general, people hate me when they first meet me, and only later learn to tolerate (and eventually like) my company.  Or they never like me, that's always an option!

I've also spent some of my free time reacquainting myself with my old hobby, Diplomacy.  I'm now doing a monthly subzine (a newsletter within a newsletter) where I talk about whatever is on my mind.  It only goes to about 150 people, not including whoever happens to download it from the web site here, but since I figure that is 10 times the number of people who check this blog on a regular basis, that's a wider audience.  For the moment, more emotional or personal stuff will wind up here in the blog, and more general items I'll put in the subzine.  Movie reviews get shared between both.  If you're interested, check the Diplomacy section of the Whining Kent Pigs website, and look under Eternal Sunshine issues.  Maybe you'll find something interesting - there's plenty of non-gaming material if you aren't interested in (or if you don't know anything about) playing Diplomacy or other multi-player games.

I do have a few things I wanted to write about though - our wedding photographer, my writing (or lack of it), stuff like that...so I may be back later this weekend to do another entry, depending on which place I want to put that writing (here or the subzine).  And hopefully we'll see a movie this weekend so I can review that as well.  Catch you later!
